Shot Peening Systems
What is shot peening: Shot peening is a cold working process used to produce a compressive residual stress layer and modify mechanical properties of metals. It entails impacting a surface with shot (round metallic, glass or ceramic particles) with force sufficient to create plastic deformation. It is similar to sandblasting, except that it operates by the mechanism of plasticity rather than abrasion each particle functions as a ball-peen hammer. In practice, this means that less material is removed by the process, and less dust created.
Sandstorm Shot peening system are completely automatic systems either PLC or CNC operated these systems are used for increasing the fatigue life of the component. These systems are commonly used for Aerospace components, Engine components, Gears etc .The peening takes place through a special nozzle at controlled pressure. The recovery and delivery of the shots is automatic the nozzle movement is automatic; a robotic arm can also be used for nozzle movement for better precision. These are special purpose machines (SPM) manufactured as per customer requirements.
